Synopsis

Inez Olivera traveled across the world to Egypt, seeking answers into her parents’ recent and mysterious deaths. But all her searching led her down a perilous road, filled with heartache, betrayal, and a dangerous magic that pulled her deep into the past.

When Tío Ricardo issues an ultimatum about her inheritance, she’s left with only one option to consider.

Marriage to Whitford Hayes.

Former British soldier, her uncle’s aide de camp, and one time nemesis, Whit has his own mysterious reasons for staying in Egypt. With her heart on the line, Inez might have to bind her fate to the one person whose secret plans could ruin her.

Why I love it

Last year, Isabel Ibañez graced us with her stunner of a novel What the River Knows. If you read this book, I’m almost certain that upon reading the last page you audibly gasped. Personally, I was in denial about having to wait a whole year to read the next book. But fear not BOTM members, Isabel Ibañez’s highly anticipated sequel is here, and it was definitely worth the wait.

After being betrayed and left heartbroken, Inez is more determined than ever to stay in Egypt to finally uncover the answers she’s been desperately seeking. Her uncle, however, has other plans for her, and Inez soon realizes that the only way she will be able to stay in Egypt is by means of marriage…to Whit. Inez will have to trust Whit, who has secrets of his own, if she ever hopes to find what she’s been searching for.

If you’re looking to get lost in 1885 Egypt again, you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re like me and you need more of Whit and Inez, you will have plenty of fun banter and chemistry-filled moments to dig into. So, what are you waiting for? Adventure awaits.
